With major advancements in the fields of science and medicine, new and more efficient drugs are being introduced into the market to relive us from any sort of health ailments. There is also the growing risk of drug abuse since often these drugs are used for addiction purpose causing great risk to society and mankind. This particular segment of medicine is used world over for various reasons, from muscular cramps to injuries from growing pain to fractured bone, pain killers make us forget the pain very quickly and get back to normal life. One such drug is Lorcet. It is a very powerful pain killer advised and used by many the world over. It is a schedule H drug which means it cannot be sold to customers without proper prescription. This is needed because a drug like lorcet can also induce trance or hallucinations and hence is vary potent hallucinogen.

Lorcet is prescribed to cure all sorts of pain form injuries during sporting activity to sever stomach cramps associated with menstrual cycles and pregnancy. But the drug has a number of side effects and it is more often the side effects which make hippies and junkies steal this drug from outlets for a “high”. The side effects include nausea, drowsiness and mild hallucinations if taken in a very high dose.

Lorcet comprises of a combination of two drugs namely hydrocodone and acetaminophen. The hydrocodone part is the more potent pain reliever as it is a narcotic extracted from opioid origins. This is also the reason why this drug is not sold by pharmacists without prescription. Acetaminophen on the otherhand is a mild analgesic which reduces fever and is a very mild pain killer. Hydrocodone is not sold alone and is always mixed with other mild pain killers to reduce its narcotic effect and increase its medicinal use.

Lorcet should only be consumed in doses prescribed by the physician because over dose can cause dire consequences which can lead to acute gastric disorder and liver damage. Another point worth noting is that Lorcet should never be consumed in an empty stomach as it may cause severe stomach ailments.

The abuse of lorcet is a cause for growing concern since it is available very cheaply and the effects are not very long lasting. Mostly this particular drug is smuggled from third worlds where medicine retail laws are not so harsh and then they are sold in the black market from where these can be easily procured.

Continued use of lorcet is also discouraged since regular use consumption can lead to addiction. It should only be taken when the pain is very severe and should not be taken at less than six hour intervals. Even if the pain lasts, the drug should not be consumed form more that a few weeks at a stretch.
